I LOVE inventive food. Surong is a perfect example of original ingredients and unique recipes executed in a comforting, delicious, satisfying way... AND it's VEGAN! Personally I don't subscribe a vegan diet, so I was extra impressed by the super flavorful and rewarding dishes that left my mouth happy and my stomach full. The dumplings? Duh. The carrot rice balls were unlike anything I've ever had before, with a meaty texture that balanced sweet and savory perfectly. They are a must. For those of you who imbibe, the cocktail was super unique as well. Wish I grabbed a photo but I drank it too quickly!
This pop-up is such a unique & memorable experience for anyone - not just vegans! The mix of heritage Asian flavors & modern inventiveness is wild. Each course we had was thoughtful - from the chilled slightly sweet daikon soup to the spicy sour salty crystal dumplings. And the tofu skin!? Are you kidding me!? For dessert, we had these amazing peanut tangyuan balls Surong should really package & sell because I could pop 75 of those into my mouth in one sitting. Just go!
